Name: Joe Camacho Age: 36 3 Record: 14 (11 KO's) - 14 (3 Draws) BI was born and raised in East Los Angeles by my hardworking single mother who worked on assembly lines for many years to provide for me. Despite my humble upbringing, I am very proud of my past and can truly say I lived an exciting life. Growing up it was always just my mom and I being that I was my mother’s only child. I have to admit, I didn’t mind much since it did have its perks like getting just about anything I wanted. I was showered with my Mothers love and attention, granted, I had to earn my keep and I can say I had strict tough love when I acted up too. For the most part I wasn’t a brat or a whiny kid who cried if I didn’t get my way. I was rather the hardworking kid who had to have good grades and help out around the house to get rewards. My Mom showed me tough love and it’s because of her, I am who I am today. Growing up in East Los Angeles was positive and pretty normal for me and not negative like the cliché “barrio” “ghetto” stereotypes you hear of. I lived in a nice home my Grandfather built from the bottom up and my neighborhood was rather a quiet one. My Grandparents too were a big influence on me growing up. They were there for me when my mother was working but because she was away at work a lot I stayed off the streets and away from negative surroundings by keeping busy with sports through out the years. I benefited from things like the Y.M.C.A., the Boy’s & Girl’s Club, School Recreation Activities, and local Public Park Activities that keep me out of harms way and to kept me focused on the right path. This part of my past makes me adamant about giving back to similar programs so that other kids have the same chances I got. |
